Why is the Man who wrestled Jacob called an Angel?

Why does Hosea 12:4 make use of the word angel whereas Genesis 32:24 states that it was a man with the face of God?

God created man in His own image.

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

The Hebrew word of angel means messenger.

Jacob states that he saw God face to face.

Genesis 32:24

So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.

Genesis 32:28

And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Genesis 32:30

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."

Angels are also called sons of God

Job 1:6

One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.

The Man who wrestled with Jacob was an Angel—a Son of God with the face of God, for Jacob said, "I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been spared."

Hosea 12

Isaiah 53:10

Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him and to cause Him to suffer; and when His soul is made a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.

Psalm 2:7

You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.

Isaiah 52:13

He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

Psalm 110:1

The LORD said to my Lord:

“Sit at My right hand

until I make Your enemies

a footstool for Your feet.”

Psalm 80:17

Let Your hand be upon the man at Your right hand,

on the son of man You have raised up for Yourself.

Daniel 10

5

I lifted up my eyes, and behold, there was a certain man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist.

His body was like beryl, his face like the brilliance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torcheshis arms and legs like the gleam of polished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.

Ezekiel 40

3

So He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze. He was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand.

Revelation 1

14

The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire.

15

His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.
