Why is Jesus the Messiah not the son of David but a descendant of David? In Matthew 22:45, Mark 12:37 and Luke 20:44, Jesus warns about the teachings of the Pharisees and teachers of the law who claimed that son of David—a son of descendant of David, his own flesh and blood is the Messiah—The Anointed One. Matthew 1 is the genealogy of Joseph, who was a descendant of David and thought to be the father of Jesus. In his earthly life, Jesus is considered to be an Israelite and a descendant of David because through the Holy Spirit, He was born to Mary, who was pledged to be married to Joseph in the house of David of the tribe of Judah. Yahweh foretold Rebekah what would happen to the two nations that would descend from Esau and Jacob—Gen. 25:23. Genesis 25 23 And the LORD said to her:  Two nations are in your womb; two people will come from you and be separated. In layman's terms, the book of Genesis, Chapter 1, gives an account of how Yahweh created the universe. That might not be convincing enough for people who doubt. A great place to start would be reading the book of Daniel, Chapter 2. He was a prophet who interpreted the dream of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, who forgot the dream he had. Daniel not only was able to describe the dream that the king forgot but also accurately interpreted the dream by prophesying the kingdoms that will come into power after Babylon until the kingdom of God is established on earth. There is historical evidence to prove the accuracy of his prophecies. There are prophecies yet to be fulfilled. Daniel accredited his wisdom, knowledge and understanding to Yahweh.
