Food offering

Leviticus 1

burnt offering – burn on the altar with fire

  • Herd, Flock or Bird

finest flour, olive oil and frankincense

Season all grain offerings with salt

Leviticus 2

13

And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt; you must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering—you are to add salt to each of your offerings.

No yeast or honey in burnt offering

Leviticus 2

No grain offering that you present to the LORD may be made with leaven, for you are not to burn any leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the LORD.

Yeast or Honey in offering of firstfruits

You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma.

Then the LORD said to Moses,

“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD:

ram without defect from the flock, of proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary shekel

Exodus 20

You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.

25

Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it.

one in the morning and the other in the evening

with grain offering

a tenth of an ephah of finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil pressed from olives

accompanying drink offering

quarter of a hin of fermented drink with each lamb

Exodus 20

This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar, each day: two lambs that are a year old.

39

In the morning offer one lamb, and at twilight offer the other.

40

With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with a quarter hin of oil from pressed olives, and a drink offering of a quarter hin of wine.

41

And you shall offer the second lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning, as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.

This is a regular burnt offering established at Mount Sinai as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.

Predestination is an Illusion

Yahweh foretold Rebekah what would happen to the two nations that would descend from Esau and Jacob—Gen. 25:23. Genesis 25 23 And the LORD said to her:  Two nations are in your womb; two people will come from you and be separated. One people will be stronger than the other,  and the older will serve the younger. This prophecy does not imply that Jacob was predestined to deceitfully take Esau's blessings from Isaac—when Rebekah asked him to do so. And Rebekah did not ask him to do so, so that she could bring the prophecy to fulfillment. Rebekah, sister of Laban the Aramean, set out from Paddan Aram and went with her nurse, Deborah, to marry Isaac, son of Abraham. Genesis 24 59 So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abraham’s servant and his men. The LORD foretold Abraham that his descendants will be enslaved in a land for four hundred years even before Isaac was born. In layman's terms, the book of Genesis, Chapter 1, gives an account of how Yahweh created the universe. That might not be convincing enough for people who doubt. A great place to start would be reading the book of Daniel, Chapter 2. He was a prophet who interpreted the dream of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, who forgot the dream he had. Daniel not only was able to describe the dream that the king forgot but also accurately interpreted the dream by prophesying the kingdoms that will come into power after Babylon until the kingdom of God is established on earth. There is historical evidence to prove the accuracy of his prophecies. There are prophecies yet to be fulfilled. Daniel accredited his wisdom, knowledge and understanding to Yahweh.
