Food offering

Leviticus 1

burnt offering – burn on the altar with fire

  • Herd, Flock or Bird
  1. Animal from the herd

young bull, male without defect

  1. Animal from the flock

sheep or goat, male without defect

  1. Bird

dove or pigeon

  • Grain offering

finest flour, olive oil and frankincense

  1. baked in an oven
  2. prepared in a griddle
  3. cooked in a pan

Season all grain offerings with salt

Leviticus 2

13

And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt; you must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering—you are to add salt to each of your offerings.

No yeast or honey in burnt offering

Leviticus 2

No grain offering that you present to the LORD may be made with leaven, for you are not to burn any leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the LORD.

Yeast or Honey in offering of firstfruits

Leviticus 2

You may bring them to the LORD as an offering of firstfruits, but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma.

Fellowship offering or Peace offering

Leviticus 3

Then the LORD said to Moses,

“Tell the Israelites to do as follows with one who sins unintentionally against any of the LORD’s commandments and does what is forbidden by them:

  1. The anointed priest sins

  1. common man sins

female goat or lamb without defect or

two doves or pigeons, or

a tenth of an ephah of fine flour without olive oil and frankincense

Guilt offering

Leviticus 5

Then the LORD said to Moses,

“If someone acts unfaithfully and sins unintentionally against any of the LORD’s holy things, he must bring his guilt offering to the LORD:

ram without defect from the flock, of proper value in silver shekels according to the sanctuary shekel

Exodus 20

You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.

25

Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it.

Numbers 28:3–8

Regular burnt offering, Daily Offering

two lambs, a year old, without defect

one in the morning and the other in the evening

with grain offering

a tenth of an ephah of finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil pressed from olives

accompanying drink offering

quarter of a hin of fermented drink with each lamb

Exodus 20

This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar, each day: two lambs that are a year old.

39

In the morning offer one lamb, and at twilight offer the other.

40

With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with a quarter hin of oil from pressed olives, and a drink offering of a quarter hin of wine.

41

And you shall offer the second lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and drink offering as in the morning, as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.

This is a regular burnt offering established at Mount Sinai as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.

This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.

Offer the same food each day for seven days as an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma to the LORD. It is to be offered with its drink offering and the regular burnt offering.

You are to present these offerings to the LORD at your appointed times, in addition to your vow and freewill offerings, whether burnt offerings, grain offerings, drink offerings, or peace offerings.”
