Who is the Branch?
Who is the Branch in the prophetic book of Zechariah?
In the prophetic book of Zechariah, the Branch is the LORD's servant—The Messiah, The Anointed One.
Zechariah 3
8
Hear now, O high priest Joshua, you and your companions seated before you, who are indeed a sign. For behold, I am going to bring My servant, the Branch.
Joshua the high priest or Zerubbabel is not the Branch.
Zechariah 6
11
Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak.
14
The crown will be given to Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of the LORD.
The Branch shall build the temple of the LORD described in the book of Ezekiel, when He establishes the kingdom of God on earth. He shall be both king and priest in the order of Melchizedek, and He shall sit and rule on His throne.
Zechariah 6
12
Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says:
‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD.
13
It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’
Psalm 110 of David is a prophecy about the Messiah who is a priest in the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High.
Psalm 110:4
The LORD has sworn
and will not change His mind:
“You are a priest forever
in the order of Melchizedek.”
Ezekiel 40
2
In visions of God He took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose southern slope was a structure that resembled a city.
3
So He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze. He was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand
