The key to unlock the mystery of the Messiah in Scriptures

The prophetic Scriptures have revealed that Yahweh will send the Messiah to save the world, restore the kingdom of Israel, and establish the kingdom of God on earth; He will sit and reign on the throne of David and fulfill all the promises that Yahweh has made known through His prophets.

Micah 5:2
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be ruler over Israel, whose origins are of old, from the days of eternity.

Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and His name will be called Immanuel.

Jeremiah 33:15
In those days and at that time I will cause to sprout for David a righteous Branch

Ezekiel 37
22
I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them.

Isaiah 42:1
He will bring justice to the nations.

Isaiah 9:6
and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:7
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.

The aforementioned verses in the prophetic Scriptures have revealed:
  • The Messiah will come from the tribe of Judah.
  • He will be born in the house of David to a virgin.
  • His origins are of old and from the days of eternity; therefore, He will be called Immanuel—God with us.
  • He will be a king—a Mighty God— who will sit and reign on the throne of David.
It is imperative to understand that the Messiah, whose origins are of old and from the days of eternity, is a heavenly being who has existed even before the creation of the world; He is the Holy One of God.

The Messiah doesn't need an earthly father, for an earthly man and woman would reproduce a new life form that would be earthly in nature and will not be able to destroy the evil one, because of the hierarchy that Yahweh has established from the beginning.

So the Messiah will have been born in the house of David, of the tribe of Judah, to a virgin according to the covenant that Yahweh established with David and the patriarchs of Israel—Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Genesis 49
10
The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the staff from between his feet
2 Samuel 7
16
Your house and kingdom will endure forever before Me, and your throne will be established forever.”
Jeremiah 33
17
For this is what the LORD says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel,

The mystery of the Messiah in the prophetic Scriptures—how Yahweh sent the Messiah to accomplish His will in order to save the world, and how He will gather the remnant of Israel and restore the kingdom of Israel to establish His kingdom on earth has been revealed to the world by the Man—the Messiah Himself: Jesus of Nazareth.

Why do some people who read the Scriptures fail to recognize Jesus of Nazareth as the one and only Messiah?

Why is Jesus of Nazareth the one and only Messiah despite some discrepancies in the four gospels— Matthew, Mark, Luke, John?

If the Bible is the word of Yahweh then how can there be discrepancies in the four gospels?

The prophetic Scriptures were filled with mysteries until Jesus of Nazareth came to Israel, in fulfillment of the prophecies, to accomplish the works entrusted to Him by Yahweh, and through His teachings opened the minds of the people and His disciples so they could understand the Scriptures—how Yahweh would fulfill the promises of establishing His kingdom on earth and save His creation by destroying evil.

Whose Son is the Messiah?
On reading the gospel of Matthew—from Matthew 1:18 to Matthew 24, there are instances when Jesus was addressed as the son of David by people who believed that He was the Messiah:
  • Two blind men call Jesus: Son of David Matthew 9:27, Matthew 20:30
  • When Jesus healed a demon-possessed man, the people said: "Could this be the Son of David?" Matthew 12:23
  • Canaanite woman calls Jesus: Son of David Matthew 15:22
  • When Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, the crowds shouted: Hosanna, to the Son of David! Matthew 21:9
  • The children in the temple shouted: Hosanna, to the Son of David! Matthew 21:15
The Pharisees, teachers of the law and the chief priests who opposed Jesus were under the impression that the Messiah will be the son of David who will restore the kingdom of Israel; it was a teaching in Israel. However, Jesus Himself revealed that the Messiah is not the son of David by quoting Psalm 110:1 and warned the people to beware of the teachers of the law.

Note:
Here, the term "son of David is the Messiah" refers to the belief that a son of David—a son of the descendant of David, his own flesh and blood is the Messiah.

Matthew 22
41
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42
“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”
“The son of David,” they replied.
43
He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says,
44
“The LORD said to my Lord:
    'Sit at my right hand
until I put your enemies
    under your feet.'”
45
If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

This event is also mentioned in Mark 12:35–37 and Luke 20:41–44.

Psalm 110 of David is a prophecy about the Messiah, and Psalm 110:1 is the key to unlock the mystery of the Messiah in the Scriptures; it reveals that the Messiah is not the son of David, and this was made known to the world by Jesus of Nazareth.

Psalm 110 – A Psalm of David
1
The LORD said to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
until I make Your enemies
a footstool for Your feet.”

The prophecy reached its fulfillment when the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth—The Anointed One, The Branch—was put to death and He conquered death to be raised to life and was exalted with the glory He had before the creation of the world in fulfillment of the word of Yahweh made known through the prophets Daniel and Isaiah.

John 17:5
Now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with that glory I had with You before the world existed.

Mark 14
60
Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?”
61
But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62
“I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

The aforementioned event is also mentioned in Matthew 26:62–64 and Luke 22:67–69

Daniel 9
26
After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.

Isaiah 53:12
He has poured out His life unto death

Isaiah 53:10
and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin

Psalm 16:10
nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

Isaiah 53:10
He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days

Isaiah 52:13
He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

From the aforementioned verses, it is evident that the Messiah, Jesus, is the offspring—the Son of Yahweh; to save the world and conquer death, He  became the son of man and took a human nature by being born of a virgin, through the Spirit, in the house of David in fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah, and in  accordance to the covenant that Yahweh established with David.
Matthew 1
20
an angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.”
22
All this took place to fulfill what the LORD had said through the prophet:
23
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”(which means “God with us”).

This event is also mentioned in Luke 1:26–37.

Jesus the Messiah did not need an earthly father to be born and to enter the world, for He is the Son of Yahweh and existed even before the creation of the world.

In his earthly life, Jesus is considered to be an Israelite and a descendant of David because through the Holy Spirit, He was born to Mary, who was pledged to be married to Joseph in the house of David of the tribe of Judah.

To save the world and conquer death, Jesus the Messiah lived like a human being made of flesh; He was subjected to the trials, weakness, pain and suffering of a human being; and yet He displayed the power of God to accomplish the work entrusted to Him by Yahweh.

In view of the discrepancy in genealogy of Joseph, who was thought to be the father of Jesus, there are two genealogies that made its way into the Bible while the gospels were compiled: Luke 3:23–38 and Matthew 1:2–17

According to the word of Yahweh made known through the prophet Isaiah during the reign of Ahaz in Judah, the birth of the Messiah would have been a sign to the house of David, which implies that Joseph descended from the kings of Judah, according to the genealogy mentioned in the gospel of Matthew 1:6–12.
Isaiah 7
13
Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God as well?
14
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign

If Josiah, grandson of Manasseh, turned to Yahweh with all his heart and soul and with all his strength, and Zerubbabel, governor of Judah and grandson of Jeconiah, was entrusted by Yahweh with the construction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in preparation of the coming of the Messiah to Israel then it is evident that the word of Yahweh to Jeconiah through the prophet Jeremiah that none of his offspring will rule in Judah pertained only to his children and not his descendants thereafter.

Tracing the ancestry of Joseph—a descendant of David—to validate his lineage through Zerubbabel or refuting his descendancy from David due to discrepancy in the gospels diverts attention from the real purpose of the gospels: how Jesus the Messiah accomplished the works entrusted to Him by Yahweh and revealed the mysteries of the prophetic Scriptures.

To address the discrepancies in the gospels, it must be noted that multiple manuscripts of the gospels exist. The original manuscript of the authors of the gospels is not in the possession of those who are responsible for compiling the gospels in the Bible.
Additional verses and words, and in some instances, passages that do not exist in earlier manuscripts have been incorporated in the gospels.

However, a parallel study of the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John gives great insight about Jesus the Messiah—who was sent by Yahweh to save the world; it validates the events that occurred in Israel—the birth of Jesus the Messiah, His display of the power of God through His works of healing, His teachings to open the minds of the people and His disciples in order to reveal the mysteries of the prophetic Scriptures,  His accomplishment of the will of His Father through His death and resurrection to fulfill the promises of Yahweh that He will return with great power and glory to restore the kingdom of Israel and establish the kingdom of God on earth and reign on the throne of David with an iron scepter to administer justice and righteousness until Yahweh comes to Israel and dwells amongst His people.

Luke 24
44
He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
45
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
46
He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day
